Insights with impact.

Let us help you find the answers. Our team of psychologists specialize in working with children, teens, and adults, offering tailored evaluations to address your specific questions. We provide neurodivergent-affirming assessments that recognize challenges often arise from a mismatch between an individual’s neurotype and expectations of the environment.

Our approach to testing is more than just arriving at a diagnosis. It’s an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of your or your child’s experiences. Through a process of collaboration and discovery, we identify differences and highlight strengths to help you, or your child thrive and embrace their true selves.

We understand that evaluations are an investment. Our goal is to deliver the highest quality experience and to develop thoughtful, actionable recommendations that make a difference.

Our Testing Process

Learn More About Our Testing Services

Comprehensive Psychoeducational Evaluations

Testing is an important first step in identifying neurodivergent and co-occurring conditions such as ADHD, Autism, learning differences, anxiety, OCD, and depression. Our evaluations are collaborative and affirming and include tests of intellectual functioning, information processing, executive functioning, academic achievement, and social-emotional/psychological functioning. Through understanding learning and communication styles, social relationships, and emotional experiences, we can identify differences in need of supports, maximize and celebrate strengths, and provide clarity on the next steps, which may include school and workplace accommodations, referrals to other professionals (e.g., tutors, executive function coaches, and therapists), and resources for ongoing education and conversation.

Psychological Testing

If an individual is experiencing problems at work, in school, or maintaining relationships, psychological testing can help understand the various emotional experiences and personality traits contributing to their struggles. Whether an individual is seeking the information for themselves or is referred by their therapist or psychiatrist, our goal is to help understand the nature of unclear or complex problems and ways to offer effective treatment. Testing combines objective and projective tests to gain information regarding underlying emotional and personality patterns. This can be especially helpful when clients or treatment providers feel stuck and require additional information to proceed most effectively. For some clients, this may be part of a more extensive evaluation to assess for other neurodivergent and co-occurring conditions, such as ADHD, learning differences, anxiety, and depression.

Adult ADHD Testing

Many people with ADHD may show signs of the condition in childhood but were never identified or treated. In adulthood, ADHD is often associated with work or academic performance problems, relationship struggles, and mental and physical health issues. ADHD symptoms can also mimic other conditions; thus, a comprehensive evaluation is often the best starting point to secure an accurate diagnosis. This assessment is typically completed in 6 hours through specific tests to assess cognitive functioning, executive functioning, and social- emotional functioning, as well as the integration of supporting documents and consultations with other sources close to the client. More comprehensive testing may be needed for adults who are also students and in need of academic accommodations. The results are discussed in a follow-up meeting and in a detailed report provided to the client.

Independent School Admissions Testing

Testing is one part of the application process for some independent schools in the DMV. Even when testing is not required, many educational consultants request it to assist with school placement. Children under six take the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence- Fourth Edition (WPPSI-IV). Children ages six and older take the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children- Fifth Edition (WISC-V). Children are sometimes asked to take the Woodcock- Johnson-IV, Tests of Achievement (WJ-IV). Our testers work to ensure that the assessment process is a smooth and positive one for your child and for you.

Autism Identification Assessment

This evaluation is designed for adults wondering if they are Autistic, as well as for children and teens who have recently undergone a comprehensive evaluation but whose parents still have questions about Autism. This is a collaborative and neurodivergent-affirming process aimed at fostering self-discovery and cultivating a positive Autistic identity. Recognizing that there is no single test to identify Autism, we employ a comprehensive approach that includes an in-depth developmental and social history, diagnostic interview(s), self-report questionnaires, and tests designed to identify Autistic traits. We encourage input from collateral informants such as parents, partners, therapists, teachers, and physicians when possible. Adults can be assessed in person or virtually, depending on state licensing laws. Virtual assessments can be done for personal knowledge, and in-person assessments are conducted for workplace or college accommodations and access to government-based support programs. A feedback meeting will be scheduled when testing is completed, followed by a written report.

Developmental Assessments

Developmental assessments are for children ages 18 months to 5 years, with the goal of identifying differences early on to support learning, behavior, and emotional well-being. Parents, schools, pediatricians, and therapists may request a developmental assessment if there are questions about Autism, intellectual disability, or risk factors associated with ADHD and learning problems. When unrecognized, developmental differences can contribute to emotional and behavioral difficulties and put children at risk for learning and mental health struggles in the years ahead. Seeking help early can reduce anxiety and ensure your child has appropriate documentation to seek the support they need to thrive.
