A Bit About Me
I’m Leeann Soyka (she/her), NCC, LGPC, a mental health counselor at Georgetown Psychology. I specialize in working with college students and am interested in working with children and adolescents. I am passionate about helping clients explore their values, develop deeper self-understanding, and collaboratively create strategies to achieve lasting change.
I strive to create a safe and supportive space for clients where they feel understood, respected, and empowered to explore their identities and experiences. I believe that establishing a strong therapeutic relationship is a mechanism for change and healing in therapy. I use a client-centered approach, meaning that I view clients as experts in their own lives and use curiosity and collaboration in the counseling room. In addition, I have experience implementing evidence-based interventions from Psychodynamic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

My Education, Training & Community Engagement
I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology from The College of William and Mary and my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from The George Washington University. I started my career at the Community Counseling Services Center where I helped clients ages 19-65 manage issues related to family, suicidal ideation, stress management, career, and aging. After noticing a need for more career counseling services at the community level, I pursued an internship at Georgetown University’s Cawley Career Education Center where I provided career counseling services to undergraduate students and alumni through career exploration appointments, mock interviews, and workshops.
In addition to my clinical experience, I supported and led a day program for adults with a range of physical and neurodevelopmental differences at a non-profit for over two years. I led a social group at the non-profit to facilitate relationship-building and connections with the community. I have also worked as a dance teacher for kids ages 2-10 and enjoy using creative techniques and interventions. On the weekends I volunteer with SPIRIT Open Equestrian Program which provides therapeutic riding to individuals with special needs.
