A Bit About Me
I’m Dr. Rashida Barner, a licensed psychologist passionate about supporting children and adolescents (ages 6+). I specialize in assessments for a wide range of neurodivergent and co-occurring conditions. My approach is rooted in providing culturally responsive evaluations, ensuring every child’s background and experiences are respected and valued. I have led several continuing education seminars on this important topic.
My approach to testing is holistic and individualized. I focus on understanding the whole child, considering their cognitive, emotional, and social functioning within the context of their unique life experiences. My goal is to create a supportive and trusting environment where children feel comfortable and are given the supports and flexibility they may need to perform at their best. By collaborating closely with parents, educators, and other professionals, I strive to provide comprehensive insights to guide effective interventions and support each child’s development and well-being.
In addition to my direct clinical work with clients, I am deeply committed to mentoring and training the next generation of psychologists. As a supervisor to pre- and post-doctoral trainees, I aim to instill a deep understanding of culturally responsive and neurodivergence-affirming practices, preparing them to become compassionate, skilled, and innovative clinicians.
