A Bit About Me

I’m Samantha Congdon (She/Her/Hers), a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over ten years of experience working with children, adolescents, young adults/college students, and adults. I provide individual, family, and couples therapy. Using trauma-based approaches, I work collaboratively with clients, providing care that is neurodivergent- and gender-affirming and care and hold cultural sensitivity in high regard. I draw from several clinical modalities, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, Art Therapy, Play Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy.

I incorporate elements of mindfulness, breathing, and relaxation techniques from my certification as a yoga teacher to address symptoms of anxiety, depression, and insomnia. When requested by clients, my trained therapy dog, Millie, is brought into sessions for emotional support. Creating a safe space is essential to my work as the foundation of good therapy is a trusting therapist-client relationship. I work collaboratively with clients and use a narrative approach to help them rewrite the script of the problematic and dominant storylines in their lives. Creating a healthy narrative helps clients make meaning and see purpose. I also use systemic thinking to gain an understanding about a person’s different systems and how they may impact their mental health.

I am an intuitive eating clinician and am passionate about supporting clients struggling with disordered eating and body image. This work incorporates mind and body techniques to help clients let go of rigid eating patterns and learn to eat in ways that feel good for their bodies.
