Julie Kirtz, LICSW

Julie Kirtz, LICSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She is passionate about working as a team with her clients, tailoring her therapeutic approach to their individual goals. With each session, Julie works to create a warm and trusting space for growth and healing.
Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy, loss, trauma, work burnout, relationships, self-criticism and self-doubt.
Her emotion-focused approach is rooted in psychodynamic and attachment theories. By identifying and processing core issues, clients can change unhealthy emotional, cognitive, and behavioral patterns in sustainable ways. She is certified in experiential dynamic therapy through the Washington School of Psychiatry. Julie earned a master’s degree in social work from The Catholic University of America and a degree in journalism from the University of Southern California.
Most recently, she worked as a therapist in the non-profit sector. Julie has lived in the Washington DC area for more than twenty-five years.
