Maggie Giese, LICSW, LCSW

Maggie Giese, LICSW, LCSW (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who provides therapy to children, adolescents, families, and young adults. She is passionate about working with clients of diverse backgrounds and uses a strengths-based and individualized approach that recognizes the uniqueness of each client.

Maggie deeply values the client-therapist relationship and strives to create a supportive and nonjudgmental space for clients to work towards their goals. She uses a collaborative, client-centered, and trauma-informed approach with a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and mindfulness-based modalities. She recently completed advanced certification training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and incorporates DBT skills into much of her work with clients. Maggie is bilingual and speaks Spanish.

Originally from Boulder, Colorado, she recently relocated to the DC area. She has over ten years of experience working with youth, families, and adults in a variety of settings, including education and the legal system. She earned her undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her Master of Social Work degree from Metropolitan State University in Denver, CO. Maggie’s therapeutic approach is grounded in a variety of theoretical orientations including Systems Theory, Attachment Theory, and Psychodynamic Theory. She aims to meet clients where they are, recognizing the larger context and systems they are part of and how those shape their experiences.

She is licensed in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Colorado.
