Testing is one part of the application process for some independent schools in the DMV. Even when testing is not required, many educational consultants request it to assist with school placement. Children under six take the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence- Fourth Edition (WPPSI-IV). Children ages six and older take the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children- Fifth Edition (WISC-V). Children are sometimes asked to take the Woodcock- Johnson-IV, Tests of Achievement (WJ-IV).
