Support for Young Adults
The young adult years are often described as a time of freedom and possibility, and they can be. They are also a period marked by significant emotional, neurological, and identity development. For many college students, graduate students, and those transitioning into their first career, this stage brings uncertainty, loneliness, and the pressure to have it all figured out. From managing the structure (or lack thereof) of college life, to finding your footing in new relationships and professional environments or trying to define who you are outside your family of origin, the emotional load of this stage is real, and often underestimated.
Navigating Life Transitions with Support
Many young adults are facing major life transitions, maybe for the first time. Our therapists are here to support you in this time of change. We understand the unique pressures that come with being a young adult in the DC area, academic demands, political and climate stress, comparison to your peers, and the loneliness that can result from DC’s transient population. Our services will help you gain confidence in navigating these transitions, understand and identify your patterns, explore your identity and values, and add tools to your toolkit.
We support young adults experiencing:
- Academic stress, burnout, and imposter syndrome
- Anxiety & perfectionism
- ADHD & executive function differences
- Navigating roommate, friendship, and romantic relationships
- Starting an undergraduate or graduate program
- Starting a new job
- Applying to graduate and professional programs
- Career decision making
- Living independently for the first time
- Family dynamics and boundaries
- Transitioning from high school to college
- Moving to a new city
